03/18 (Sa)—The 12th Annual Purple Martin Workshop/Seminar—9am at the CAM Iowa Clothing Center, 1005 Nutmeg Ave (1.8 miles north of Kalona, IA and one mile east off Highway 1). $2 registration fee (10 and under free). Lunch available on site. Vendors will have displays of interest to program attendees.
Morning speakers include:
• Jennifer Jordan (Iowa City, IA)—Recycling Coordinator, City of Iowa City, will speak on: "Resource Management in Johnson County" -an inside look at recycling and how you can help reduce waste.
• Doug Harr (Ogdon, IA)—Iowa Audubon President, Harr will speak on: "Swans, Swifts & Ceruleans. . .Why Citizen Conservation Counts." Your role in conserving threatened bird species.
• Pat Schlarbaum (Nevada, IA)—Long-time leader in the Nongame Program of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources , Pat will speak on: "Update: Eagles, Ospreys, and Peregrine Falcons" on the successes and challenges of these DNR restoration programs.
• Dave Duit (Nevada, IA) of the Iowa Purple Martin Organization speaking on "A Comprehensive Look at the Purple Martin and Landlord Practices."
A panel of vetern landlords will answer questions, followed by door prizes and auction.
